R-LA were commissioned to design a public realm for a new mixed use development at 1A Downs Road, within the London Borough of Hackney.
The new scheme would provide a new commercial hub for small businesses with new high quality homes above.
The proposed public realm aimed to create a series of interlocking spaces for seating and socialising, opportunity for workshops and informal meetings, as well as a market square.
The public realm consists of a roof deck area with basement units below, with requirements for wind mitigation as well as a shared space strategy.
The scheme has been submitted for Planning.
