The lighting design on St John's church facade creates a focal point within Hyde Park Crescent’s public realm.
The 13th Century Gothic revival church was originally designed by architect Charles Fowler (better known for designing the neo-Classical Covent Garden Market).
The new lighting design by Refolo Landscape Architects aims at highlighting the colourful stained glass window framed by round tracery. The ogee arched entrance doorway is washed with soft blue light enhancing its Sigmoid curves.
The blue light on both the entrance way and tall bell-cot tower represent purity and calmness.
The tall side lit spires softly elevate the building towards the sky making it a prominent feature from within as well as from afar.
