R-LA were commissioned to design and transform the existing grounds of an old school building to become a new special needs secondary school in the Royal Borough of Greenwich.
The new school would accommodate up to 40 students with a variety of mobility challenges. The design takes into consideration the importance of the entrance experience to the school, proposing a soft and pleasant access route to the entrance, integrating the necessary ramp design with surrounding landscape features.
The playground offers a variety of sensory educational challenges, as well as dedicated wheelchair accessible 'vegetable growing pods' and an outdoor gym area.
The scheme has been submitted for Planning.
